• Wie sagt man `Pseudo-academic' auf Deutsch?

Bsp.: Eine Konferenz in Bezug auf Kultur, Art oder Menschenrechte kann akademisch sein, aber nicht unbedingt wissenschaftlich.

What is your definiton of "akademisch"?

If it is "in an academic building",
would the pseudo-form include "in a tent"?

    Hallo!

Soweit ich weiss, gibt es im Deutschen den Ausdruck `Pseudo-Akademie'
nicht. Kann man stattdessen `Pseudowissenschaft' gebrauchen?
Problem waere es, wie man im Allgemeinen unter `Pseudowissenschaft'
    versteht?
Bsp.: Eine Konferenz in Bezug auf Kultur, Art oder Menschenrechte kann akademisch sein, aber nicht unbedingt wissenschaftlich.

    Danke vorab

Ha ... That is not the point. But thanks all the same. :D

I suggest it IS the point.

Translation generally is difficult, but it becomes impossible is the
definition af the original word is not clear.

"Eine akademische Konferenz" what do you mean by that?

Is "akademisch" just another word of "organized by or at an university"?

Than we would need to know what is ment by a "pseudo-university",
    wouldn't we?

    Hello Evertjan!

Thank you very much! I'm very glad to know you.

I have put the same question to de.etc.sprache.deutsch. I think you can understand German very well. :) Would you like to look at the discussion
over there? Then you know what I mean.

    Best wishes and see you

    Han

Just state what you mean overhere in this NG.

The Q I asked you, is what you mean by "academic",
    probably as an English word,
you want to translate into German,
so it is NOT about German.
