    Never got a response. I didn't realize alt.fractals was non-canonical.

I used to use it as a screensaver but that was millions of years
ago, in the previous Millennium under Windows 3.11 and ME.

I'm not sure it would work with WinTen but why not just install it
and see? It would only take a few minutes and even if it doesn't
you've still got the ability to create and save millions of gorgeous
    images.

I can't run it as it is incompatible with my Win7/64.

    https://www.startpage.com/do/search?cat=web&language=english&query=fractal+screensaver&pl=ff

    The first linkie, https://www.screensaversplanet.com/screensavers/themes/fractal does
    not mention Fractint.

There is a fractal screensaver called "Fractal Laboratory Screen
Saver". It generates tiny fractal panels onscreen. It's only 2MB and
    it does run under Win7/64.

"Freeware fractalgenerator Fractalus" also works fine under W7/64 but
it's not really a screensaver. It does make movies, though, so you
could use the Windows picture screensaver to fake a slideshow.

There are many other fractal-drawing tools. I used to collect some
and they still hang around in a seedy dive on my PC's hard-drive but I
don't run them so often as I used to.

I hope some of this helps.
    J.

    John,

Thanks for the response. It was 10,047 days in the making. It was kind of a joke: if you look you will see the post date was originally 3/21/1992! I was looking up Usenet and saw that this was the very first post I made way back. I don’t really need a
screensaver anymore with just blanking the screen in Win 10 I used to love fractint. I will take a look at your links though as I have begun to get back into fractals. I remember doing things like plotting the Lorenz attractor on paper with an old TI99/
4A. My monitor was a tv at the time. Thanks again for the info. I appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Pat

    John,

Oh. Well. Better late than never, yes?

Even had I bothered to look, I would have assumed that your PC's
clock had somehow been corrupted. Still, good joke. I'll be more
    careful in the future.

Yeah, fractals on older tech were often fun.

My monitor was a tv at the time.

My first PC and its successor both used the TV. I still have them and
they still work but today's TV's are probably too much of a beast for
them to drive. I really must try it some day.

Thanks again for the info. I appreciate it.

It's cool. I was looking up stuff for this guy on the Internet,
    anyway.

    J.

    Thanks,
    Pat
