Reports of damaged buildings are emerging in Victoria after a magnitude-6 earthquake centred on the north-eastern Victorian town of Mansfield was felt across Australia's south-east.

BREAKING (22 Sept); A big earth tremor has been registered in outer
Melbourne. The ground wobbled for a good few seconds where I am, 60 km
N of the city. Apparently it was kinda localized because live TV news
from Melbourne seems to be going ahead with nothing going on. [Later
reports say it was felt across Vic and ACT and even in Tasmania and
was a mag 6 centered in NE Vic at 10 km down -- rel shallow and big
    for Australia].

BREAKING (22 Sept): Prem Andrews is giving a press conf addressing the 2000-strong anti-shutdown protest yesterday. He said it was an insult
to tradies and the construction industry and did not represent
building workers or unions. Mr Andrews said the 320k-strong industry
had been working up to this point in the pandemic where retail and
pubs were shut or restricted to collect-only. Mr Andrews said there
had been no choice but to close construction down for 2 weeks after
350 building workers came down with Delta and the sector could not be
re-opened until workers were vaccinated and took the pandemic
seriously. He foreshadowed other sectors would also be subject to a
vaccine mandate and more announcements will come. Police said they
made 60 arrests yesterday and people would be charged with a variety
of violence and health offences. They are preparing for a 3rd day of
protests today. Reporters say the protests have been organised via
social media by a "number of groups". Some of the protesters yesterday
were building workers but other anti-vaxx or anti-lockdown groups were involved. Unions say the protest had been used by far-right groups to
cause trouble and had told their members to "dress like tradies" for
the protests. On morning TV CFMEU boss John Setka who had been
attacked in yesterday's protest said if any real building workers had
been involved in the fracas they were no longer welcome in the industry.

More than 500 police will remain in Melbourne's CBD on high alert
today after thousands of protesters, many voicing anti-vaccination
views, stopped traffic on the West Gate Bridge, as well as injuring
three police officers and a journalist.
[The mob wandered around the city for at least 6 hrs yesterday. Some
carried Trump posters. Almost exclusively young men. Reporters said
the group didnt seem to know what their message was or where they were
going. They moved from place to place in the CBD then headed out to
the Westgate Bridge to block traffic for an hr, then headed back into
the city again. One reporter says he was doused with urine from a
bottle as part of the protest].
