Hydrologists frequently use the baseflow separation method to distinguish baseflow from overall streamflow. It is an essential step in comprehending how water flows within a watershed. Researchers can examine the characteristics of the baseflow component,
which represents the contribution of groundwater to streamflow, and evaluate its significance in maintaining aquatic ecosystems and water resources. The baseflow component is estimated using a variety of mathematical models and statistical techniques
that make use of streamflow information, precipitation data, and other pertinent hydrological parameters. To accurately calculate the impact of groundwater on streamflow, researchers must be able to distinguish between baseflow and surface runoff using
these models and techniques. Scientists can better understand the baseflow component by the use of straight-line methods and other graphical methods. The numerical methods can be utilized to validate the conclusion from the graphical method.
