    Zero Hedge makes it's money by peddling fatuous misinformation, which is
    why Cursitor Doom likes them so much - they supply the drug he craves.

    Naturally they will object any scheme which penalises anybody who
    propagates falsehoods for profit - it would make their platform a lot
    less profitable. Not only because addicts like Cursitor Doom wpould be
    less likely to turn to them for their fix of bizarre fantasy, but
    because the people who pay Zero Hedge to propagate their preferred view
    of reality would not be able to place as much deceitful propaganda as
    they do now.

    John Larkin thinks you can. He can't tell difference between
    totalitarian socialism - communism - and democratic socialism which
    works remarkably well in most of Europe.

    Which is why Marxism = Hunger.

    Karl Marx was a ground-breaking economist and a political idiot. Marxist economics makes sense, but nobody call it that these days, because the political idiocy has damaged the brand.

    Authoritarian rule does lead to hunger, because you don't get the right feedback from the population you are ruling. Democracy provides the
    feedback that lets problems get dealt with before they start damaging
    people.

    Donald Trump's contempt for democratic norms lead to a lot more
    Americans dying of Covid-19 than really should have done.

    Well, Zerohedge tends to be hair afire and imprecise on details, so I
    followed the breadcrumb trail to the actual video of the WEF (Davos)
    "Defending Truth" forum. Here is a closer link from ZH's page:

    The video is 45 minutes long, and worth watching from the start. The
    key exchange about we being the keeper of truth (at about 8 minutes
    in) was said by Emma Tucker (editor-in-chief of the WSJ) in response
    to Meredith Kopit Levien (editor-in-chief of the NYT), and the "we"
    was Meredith and Emma, not Emma alone. Given that the NYT and the WST
    are by far the largest print media organization in North America, both
    being papers-of-record, this is literally true.
