• OT: Democracy in Action - German Style!

From Cursitor Doom@21:1/5 to All on Wed Jun 19 17:13:44 2024
The AFD is a middle of the road Conservative party in Germany and is now
the second most popular party in the country. So what do the Lefties want
to do? Ban it, of course!
This is the New Left's answer to everything and everyone that doesn't
share their "progressive" beliefs: declare it as extreme and ban it. Small wonder there was a recent planned putsch in the country. What a pity it
    failed!

The funny thing is, the people who are trying to ban the AFD are the CDU!
They are equivalent to the Conservative Party in the UK and have become essentially a *fake* right-wing party. Both the CDU and the CP in Britain
have been slowly sliding further to the Left in recent times, hoping that
no one would notice. It's left a glaring great hole on the political Right
so traditional conservatives had no representation. But nature abhors a
vacuum so the AFD arose in Germany and the Reform Party in the UK. The
Reform Party can expect similar treatment in due course I would guess (if
they too become a threat to the status quo - which seemingly they suddenly have....)
This is going to be a very interesting year for politics in the Europe and America.

Not as lunatic right wing as Cursitor Dooom Would like.

Both the CDU and the CP in Britain
have been slowly sliding further to the Left in recent times, hoping that

Not from the point of view of anybody remotely sane, which Cursitor Doom
    isn't.

It's left a glaring great hole on the political Right
so traditional conservatives had no representation. But nature abhors a vacuum so the AFD arose in Germany and the Reform Party in the UK.

There are always enough lunatics around - Cursitor Doom is an example -
to support a small lunatic right party.

The Reform Party can expect similar treatment in due course I would guess (if they too become a threat to the status quo - which seemingly they suddenly have....)

This is going to be a very interesting year for politics in the Europe and America.

Will the lunatics get to run the asylum? Four years of Trump mainly lead
to many avoidable US Covid-19 deaths. His supporters still haven't
    realised it.

Lol, what a dumbass, but at least he lived. Walk up and assault somebody
on the street like that in the US and there's a good chance you'll get
    shot.

Not that Mr. Koch likely attributes his survival to Germany's strict gun
laws. he was just that tough.

Curious that you chose to side with the armed thug who was stealing other people's property and who stabbed the owner trying to retrieve it. I had thought better of you but it seems you're firmly in the Sloman camp here. Fortunately it's a very small camp.

Removing placards from public property isn't illegal anywhere I know of
in the US, anyway. A lot of people call it "litter" and it's often a
crime to put them up to begin with..I can only imagine how many permits
Germany requires to put up a sign. Hope all the papieren were in order, Staatsbürger..

Anyway, most US states have stand your ground laws, come running up to
someone and try to grab them like that over here you take your life in
your hands! Sounds like the German wingnuts want German streets to be
like that too so they better learn how it works...keep your hands to
yourself like your mama told you.

The fact remains that someone got stabbed by a thief taking their
property and you condoned it. That is indefensible IMV but it's the
very essence of neo-Liberalism: it's fine to kill anyone who doesn't
