• Lowest power, short (10s of meters) range, low data rate, wireless tech

From Don Y@21:1/5 to All on Thu Jun 13 19:06:36 2024
I'm looking for the lowest power (think: fewest battery changes)
    wireless comms available:
    - short range (ten-tens of meters)
    - low data rate (KB/s) but the potential for CONTINUOUS data transfer
(perhaps layering a protocol to ensure *reliable* transmission)
    - need not be "standards" compliant (but must be licensed bands)
    - tolerant of other "talkers" in their space

Ignore the costs of network establishment/configuration as "one time"
    events.

On paper, it appears that BLE would outperform ZigBee and ANT+
but the devil is in the details.

Anyone using any of these in a *battery* powered application
to comment on their actual observations?

I have some bluetooth audio link modules
can be used for data too, tx and rx both battery based, very small.
Runs about a up to few hours on a battery charge
    ebay

Not showing up on eBay yet. Loads from Germany and Latvia but none from
    NL.

What sort of range do they have?

Bought years ago, recently needed it for my new TV, to my surprize it worked right away.
It is a one way audio link,
so if you want to send data via the thing, you need to for example use modem chips like TCM3105 (up to 1200 Bd).
I have used that chip to send data via the 27 MHz (think it is still a license free band here) in the Z80 days.

    10 meters maybe.

This is ebay with everything on a PCB:

    have not tried that one.
