What Gore said was that once we “shared base of knowledge that serves as
a basis for reasoning together collectively” but that social media
spreads a lot of nonsense that some people - Cursitor Doom would be a
prime example - take seriously.
The Murdoch press is mainstream media, but they spread a lot of climate
denial nonsense, as well as Trump's lies about "the stolen election".
They make money out of it as do others who cater for some people's taste
for risible nonsense. Cursitor Doom is discriminating in the nonsense he spreads - it has to be utterly fatuous before he will endorse it.
It's personal preference, but that sort of perverse entertainment should
come with a public health warning and the police ought to go after it in
the same way that go after purveyors of child pornography.
