• ETH Zurich develops autonomous wall-building excavator

This is beyond amazing, and just in the nick of time too. They can be used for the construction of thousands of miles of seawalls needed to save trillions of $$ infrastructure endangered by the non-existent global warming and ice melt. They're going to
need to make the walls at least water resistant with shotcrete or similar.

At 2 mm per year sea level rise, this is just in time. Switzerland
will be flooded in just 3 million years.

At 2 mm per year sea level rise, this is just in time. Switzerland will be flooded in just 3 million years.

At some point, the Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets will slide off into the ocean and produce 10 metres of sea level rise. When it happens it will be faster than 2mm per year. John Larkin seems to be fond of linear extrapolation, and unwilling to
think about what is actually going on.

"Switzerland lies at an average elevation of 1350 m above sea level and is therefore one of the highest countries in the world," so it isn't directly threatened.

That's like saying a small leak in the dyke isn't to be taken seriously, when everyone knows it's an indicator of something much bigger and very rapidly occurring in the near future.

It's a lot more stupid than that. The 2mm sea level rise to per year is pretty much entirely due to the oceans getting warmer and the water in them expanding in consequence.

The real risk is ice sheets getting warmer and sliding off into the sea, which produced a lot of sea level rise - some 120 metres - quite rapidly at the end of the most recent ice age. We've only got a about 10 metres of sea level rise in currently
vulnerable ice sheets, and while they are losing mass at the moment they aren't losing it all that fast or sliding off into the sea all that rapidly. That could change, but the crucial changes would be happening under a mile or so of ice and aren't
    easy to monitor.
