Interesting method
It is clever but conceptually not much different to using a matched
filter for detecting a wider frequency range by sacrificing a small
amount of low frequency sensitivity they can gain much more at the high
end. The mirror supports themselves are truly astonishing engineering!
I love the squeezing analogy of turning cabbages into cucumbers.
