• CO2 Isn't Good For Snow Crabs

From Fred Bloggs@21:1/5 to All on Mon Oct 23 07:18:29 2023
Mainly because it makes things too warm.

The unprecedented die-off represents roughly 90 percent of the eastern Bering Sea population.

    https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/why-10-billion-snow-crabs-disappeared-off-the-coast-of-alaska-180983112/

Everything is connected, this will not be a standalone event. It's impossible to predict the far reaching consequences because the science just plain doesn't know enough at the system level to say, but there will be consequences, and not good ones.

I don't know about "everything is connected", but it does show that chaos theory is involved in many outcomes of complex systems... like the earth's climate.

Yeah, and 'chaos theory' predicts catastrophe resulting from a matrix operating on a multivariable input.
The catastrophe happens according to the eigenvalues of the matrix, which we used to know
about from historic info. Those bits of historic info don't tell us much about the new systemics.

Relearning crops and critters and water sources and weather events... means massive shifts
in all our civilizations' foundations. Avoid foundation movement if you want Earth to be a pleasant home.

We got some snow crabs when nothing else was available. They were
    terrible.
