    I was just pointing out that Germany has legislation banning neo-Nazi organisations, for reasons that a perfectly obvious and entirely defensible.

    If the Afd is vulnerable to that kind of legislation, even a nut-case like you should have reservations about defending it.

    This wasn't any any kind of blanket demand to ban all right-wing parties - merely those that went in for the kind of extravagant racism that ended up killing people en masse in gas ovens. Or maybe you are getting nostalgic?

    This is precisely the issue, though. You can arbitrarily label any
    political party you don't like as "extremist" or "neo-Nazi" and then
    proscribe them! This is the fundamental flaw here: you're setting
    yourself up as judge and jury. This kind of twisted thinking has no
    place in Western democracy as we've come to know it. In fact it's the
    very antithesis of democracy and it must be resisted at all costs.

    AfD are anti-Constitutional thugs. And as is usual for these kinds of group, they are initially voted into power by a transient popularism of mentally unstable, ignorant, marginalized elements of society. Once in power their first order of business is
    start undermining those institutions of government that if allowed to remain intact would prevent the kind of complete takeover they have planned. That type of thing has played out for millennia, over and over again, and will continue to do so as long as

    Actually, you can't - which is to say you would probably try, to but saner people are aware that you have to collect evidence that party you want to ban really is neo-Nazi - extremist isn't specific enough to work in a court of law - and prove to a court
    that party conforms to definition of the kind of party that has been banned. It's rational legal process, not the kind of campaign you find in the Daily Mail.

    This is the fundamental flaw here: you're setting yourself up as judge and jury.

    I'm not. I'm pointing that a German judge would have to adjudicate on the legality of the charge. They don't go in for juries.

    Most of those supporters are ignorant. All they know is the AFD promises to rectify the immigration problem there, something most people are very dissatisfied with. They're not paying attention to the rest of the story, and don't realize they're being

    It did well in some of the state elections, but Germany is a multi party democracy, so them being the second largest party isn't
    all that impressive. Coalition governments tend to be put together to keep the nutters out of power, so even being the largest party doesn't guarantee access to power.

    Looks like Israel is planning on occupying the place and putting it under martial law for some indefinite period of time. It's going to cost them an arm and a leg.

    Then a major scandal will soon erupt as it's apparent Hamas had more intelligence on Israel than Israel had on Hamas. Some of the victims were targets of a planned assassination, they were not random. Hamas also had agents at the music festival whose job

    Why would it be a major scandal? Israel may have discounted the idea that Hamas were suicidal lunatics, but military intelligence concentrates on the most probable threats.

    Hamas has just caused a lot of actual harm to a lot of Jews in Israel. Israeli tactics will be primarily aimed at making sure that they can't do it again. Jews have suffered from anti-semitism in the rest of the world for a very long time now, and

    Why would it be a major scandal? Israel may have discounted the idea that Hamas were suicidal lunatics, but military intelligence concentrates on the most probable threats.

    Unbelievably, many Palestinians are Israeli citizens and well-integrated into Israeli society. Some are even members of the IDF and police forces. The Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, has three sisters living in Israel, at least one is an Israeli citizen, a
    some of his nephews and nieces serve in the IDF.

    It looks like the majority of Palestinians probably would jump at the chance of becoming Israeli citizens, but, as usual, a few thugs have taken over their government and created a lot of discontent and hatred for no other reason than to enrich
    themselves personally.

    citizen, a some of his nephews and nieces serve in the IDF.

    The analysts are trying to let Israel off easy, but the bottom line is none of this should have happened. The IDF had no problem locating and rapidly eliminating the Hamas in the exponentially more difficult scenario of being already in the country
