Since then, the tensions have heightened to include India issuing a travel advisory to Canada and both sides halting talks on a massive trade deal.

There are lots of Sikhs outside India, and none of them think much of the Indian persecution of Sikhs in India. That doesn't make them terrorists and extremists, no matter how much the current Indian government likes to call them that. When a Sikh
nationalist gets assassinated in Canada, one has to suspect that the Indian government is dabbling in terrorism, though it might just have been a couple of American gun-nuts going postal while in Canada.
