    From a a@21:1/5 to All on Wed Jun 22 04:45:44 2022
President Joe Biden on Wednesday will call on Congress to suspend federal gasoline and diesel taxes for three months — a move meant to ease financial pressures at the pump that also reveals the political toxicity of high gas prices in an election year.

The Democratic president will also call on states to suspend their own gas taxes or provide similar relief, according to administration officials who previewed his proposals on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

At issue is the 18.4 cents-a-gallon federal tax on gas and the 24.4 cents-a-gallon federal tax on diesel fuel. If the gas savings were fully passed along to consumers, people would save roughly 3.6% at the pump when prices are averaging about $5 a gallon
    nationwide.

But many economists and lawmakers from both parties view the idea of a gas tax holiday with skepticism.

You are an abject idiot. The next election is in 2024, you dopey

Also need to examine and monitor the stations themselves and the
distribution centers to make sure they don't gouge up the price.
They already have and that is why we see what we see. We are in a
glut so the price should be lower, not higher. What Biden should be
doing is citing the oil companies for criminal level price gouging.
All at once or slow and steady, gouging is gouging no matter what the
    lens.

After the second world war, a couple aircraft makers got heavily
fined and laws were put in place to cite manufacturers doing such
things. This needs to be revisited as these oil companies need to be
cited. It is all about the FACT that they know that they will have
to pay higher taxes and their tax burden loopholes are being closed.

The more essential interpretation is called buying votes. The people who can really use this relief are irresponsible and will just squander it. And someone needs to ask themselves why, if we can do without a full quarter of gas tax revenue, how come

Cuz America is always at war, both overseas and at home, and the

No matter how incompetent or bad they are at their jobs. Actually police
being incompetent generally tends to be a justification to give their departments more money, not less.

You are an abject idiot. The next election is in 2024, you dopey dipshit.

    Open google and type midterm

The dems will probably lose both houses of congress. Should be fun.
Seems unlikely that the American elector could be that foolish. It took a rather expensive Russian intervention to got Trump elected.

If John Larkin, John Doe and "a a" were typical American voters that might happen, but the country would have gone down in flames years ago if things were that bad.

No, Sloman, the Dims nominated the most HATED WOMAN IN AMERICA.

So "widely hated" that Hillary Clinton got 2,868,686 more of the popular vote than Donald Trump, even after he'd got the benefit of the Russian intervention on his side.

Also, brain-dead networks gave Trump ALL the airtime he requested, thinking he couldn't possibly win.

    He certainly shouldn't have.

Flyguy does spend a lot of bandwidth reminding us exactly how remarkably stupid he is, and he's outdone himself here.
