    Research Assistant / Water Resources Scientist

    Key Roles and Responsibilities

    Assists experienced professionals in a variety of research and analysis tasks by collecting, compiling, verifying, and analyzing data using standard practices and techniques in the field(s) of specialization. Conducts literature review to inform
    environmental assessments and regulatory analyses. Learns to apply specialized quantitative and/or qualitative analysis techniques and methods. Under close supervision, may perform computer modeling, simulation or simple forecasting using standard
    software packages. Works on assignments that are simple to moderately complex under close supervision, implementing standard policies and procedures. Participates in portions of large, moderately complex projects and/or proposals, or may assist with the
    coordination of multiple, routine portions of projects and/or proposals.

    Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

    This is an entry-level position requiring quantitative, writing and/or research competencies and skills. Strong academic record required. The ideal candidate will have an outstanding academic record in environmental or physical sciences, engineering,
    applied mathematics or other relevant quantitatively oriented academic discipline. Excellent oral and written communication and analytical skills, proficiency using Excel and Word, and a strong interest in environmental issues are essential. Additional
    coursework in mathematics, economics, environmental policy, public and/or environmental health is advantageous. The following experience (through employment or academic coursework) and skills are a plus: Research experience, especially in the fields of
    environmental sciences and regulatory policy. Research experience working with environmental data. Proficiency using data analysis/statistical software packages, such as R or SAS. Proficiency using database software, such as Access. Proficiency using GIS
    software, such as ArcGIS.

    Minimum Qualifications

    0 - 1 years of experience with bachelor degree OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
