Here's the deal on an APO killer! It's a good price, but people have to understand you MUST pack something like that properly (4 inches of bubble wrap which, if you don't buy it in a LARGE roll will bankrupt you) or
🤔🙄🔥
form-fitting styrofoam (cheaper, you can buy sheets at Home Depot) and cut it to size and shape.

Some people will tell you the moderating on the groups can be heavy-handed, and there may be some truth to that, at least where one or two of the mods are concerned, but do what ya gotta’ do!!!!!!!

Here's the deal on an APO killer!Well, a Maksutov-Newtonian is highly corrected, and one with a 190mm aperture
🤔🙄🔥
is clearly valuable.
But he is selling it because he can't afford a proper mount for it, so it's clearly
not for everyone. For long-duration astrophotography, one wants an equatorial
fork mount. A Cassegrain-Maksutov might fit on one...
but of course those _can_ be expensive, although I think there are also budget
brands available.

They are ALL equatorial mounts, you mean GERMAN EQ mounts?John SavardWat wong wid EQ mounts?
Fork mounts suck!
Not all forks are bad, they are much easier to use than German mounts with their inevitable reversals and (often) interferences with motors, knobs, etc. But, a good German mount today
does cost a lot of money owing to the accuracy needed to take acceptable deepsky images. Where we see the impact of this is in the plethora of "wide field" rigs designed not to task less
than perfect Chinese mounts. However, if you want something that can really be used with a long focus instrument for imaging, you are looking at $8000 or so to begin, though some
can be had used for about $4000-$5000.

German EQ!
What else?
It can be balanced out easy!

Not that easily. Every large eyepiece throws off the balance, but it's easier than a fork as they are configured now. I figure though higher-end forks now may have adjustable tension when not lockedJa!They are ALL equatorial mounts, you mean GERMAN EQ mounts?John SavardWat wong wid EQ mounts?

so handling minor imbalances should be reasonably easier. But that's for manual operation, you need very good balance for photography.
