We will be able to catch up with Mars later in the month when it comes within range of the C3 camera as the satellite tracks with the Earth around the stationary/central Sun. This is a new type of astronomy that should catch on at some stage for it uses
the motions of the Earth along with the other planets to interpret what we actually see of orbital motions.

When Mars enters the range moving from left to right, the planet itself is actually moving from right to left (see above). The reason it appears to move from left to right is that the Earth moves faster than Mars and noted by the change in position of
the background stars from left to right of the stationary Sun and parallel to the orbital plane. Mars can be seen moving in the opposite direction to the change in position of the stars which accounts for its own motion.

The original heliocentric astronomers had to be content with viewing Mars using a stationary field of background stars-

"Copernicus, by attributing a single annual motion to the earth, entirely rids the planets of these extremely intricate coils, leading the individual planets into their respective orbits, quite bare and very nearly circular. In the period of time shown
in the diagram, Mars traverses one and the same orbit as many times as the 'garlands' you see looped towards the centre, with one extra, making nine times, while at the same time the Earth repeats its circle sixteen times " Kepler Astronomia Nova 1609

So many things happen within the range of the C3, which offers the best perspective of the stationary/central Sun and the common motions of the planets around our parent star. Everything from CME's to the appearance of comets, the demonstration of the
Earth's orbital motion to the individual traits of each planet moving faster and slower than the Earth and everything constantly changing.
