When did the US shoot down a satellite?
The U.S. shot down a failed satellite in 2008, saying it was for safety reasons, and China carried out a strike on one of its old satellites in 2007. The Russians have tested anti-satellite weapons several times, but this is believed to be the first to
actually destroy a satellite.
