• annular and total solar eclipse path map for next 500 years for US?

From Al Jostens@21:1/5 to All on Sun Mar 17 11:37:49 2024
I'd like to know where I can find a map showing future annular and total
solar eclipse paths for the next 500 years for the US? So far, I've
only been able to find such maps for far less range, like 100 years.
    Thank you in advance.

Are you anticipating living more than a hundred years?

I doubt you will find them out that far but any of the better star
charting programs can predict eclipses out to some reasonable future
centuries and backwards for historical eclipses too. Some also show the
ground track of the eclipse and timings for a specific location.

At this point, even if I could find future eclipses in 100 year spans, I could probably then combine five of those into one 500 year map, but
    even this proves difficult.

OK. It isn't quite what you asked for but it is a start. NASA have a
catalogue of (global) eclipse cycles online here:

    https://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEsaros/SEsaroscat.html

I was trying to find the 500 year map for research purposes.

You will have to filter them manually. It may help to know that every 3
Saros you get about the same eclipse profile in about the same place on
Earth. That period is called Exeligmos.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exeligmos

    This site might help:

    https://www.solar-eclipse.info/en/eclipse/country/US/

You can gain some more insight here:

    https://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEsaros/SEpanorama.html

Supposedly, I can take eclipse data and then use some sort of mapping
program to come up with the desired map but the info I've found so far
in this respect is vague, so I've not been able to pinpoint anything.

Chris Marriott's Skymap program could do it from about v11? onwards. But
alas he has retired now and taken up archaeology as a hobby instead.

ISTR Redshift can also do something like it (but I've never used it).
