I was looking for that image, although it is only good for the September Equinox insofar as, relative to the ecliptic, the rotational orientation runs Northwest to Southeast as seen from the orbital plane and from the fully illuminated face of the Earth.

On the June Solstice, the North polar latitude is midway to the planet's divisor as seen from the same position-

The daily rotational orientation changes across the three months and continues to change as the Earth continues its orbit, which is why the first graphic works in tandem with the time-lapse.

Everything looks better from the fully illuminated face of the Earth, and perhaps that is the key development aside from the actual reasons why the North and South poles scribe a circle as they pass through the light and dark hemispheres as a reflection
    of the entire Earth's surface.
