    Terence Dickinson, noted Canadian author on astronomical subjects, amateur astronomer and astrophotographer, co-author of The Backyard Astronomer's Guide with Alan Dyer, and author of Nightwatch and other works, passed away on February 1st.

    That's too bad, he was a good writer and promoter of amateur astronomy. He had a book of speculative images of aliens optioned by Hollywood. It was his belief that any aliens we are likely to meet would be hugely different than ourselves.

    Yeah, I saw Alan Dyer's Facebook announcement of this... I briefly met Terence Dickinson at OSP way back in 2001, IIRC. We both agreed that the skies that night were just spectacular. He needed to get back to his camera and hurried off :>)
