• A perceptive reset

I am sure many contributors to this newsgroup now realise that solar system and Earth science research requires a major reset after 250+ years ago when mathematicians and theorists gained a foothold in astronomy through Newton and his voodoo-

    https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/newton-stm/scholium.html

When I encountered it over two decades ago, it looked like he was presenting normal timekeeping facilities like the Equation of Time, even in idiosyncratic language of absolute/relative time, however, the whole thing started to fall apart as he went on
to discuss planetary motions in terms of absolute/relative space and motion.

Endeavouring to make that reset as painless and as enjoyable as possible will be met with the usual bag of tricks from those who can't use contemporary imaging, historical and technical texts, common sense judgments and all the other faculties to return
research to a creative and productive endeavour.

The misadventure with timekeeping, specifically the clockwork solar system or the RA/Dec framework represents the basis for predictive astronomy, however, the real damage was done to the original Sun-centred reasoning by the great researchers like
    Copernicus, Galileo and Kepler.
