It makes no sense to go ahead with the launch with a damaged engine.

A such delays have *always* been common early in a new program.

I don't know why NASA is wasting so many resources on a rocket. That's
just engineering, and Space-X is already further along on a better and
cheaper heavy launch vehicle. NASA should stick with the science and
let Space-X and others take care of the rockets.

Anyone believe the stories about NASA scouring junkyards looking for old pieces of the Saturn V long before this postponement?

Most people would consider leaking fuel to be a form of damaqe, yes. Especially rocket scientists.

SR-71 was leaking fuel like crazy, sitting on the runway.
Once it heated up, the fuel leak stopped!

Well, of course. That just makes for a big explosion.

But in any case, back in the days of the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs, they had lots of scrubbed launches. So this is not in any way evidence of NASA having failed to regain its mojo.

Well, there was a fuel leak. I don't think he inadvertently revealed
that he knows about the saboteurs responsible... the word "damaged"
doesn't have to imply damage-dealilng action.

And it is a lot better than the alternative of launch with known faults
so the VIPs can see nice fireworks even when the engineers are begging
to cancel because of low temperatures and known O ring seal problems.

I hope that they did learn something from the Challenger disaster.
