    There are several terms that can be used correctly (we usually use
    "dust"), but none that include "meteorite" are correct.

    Ah, yes. It's a meteoroid when it orbits the Sun, like an asteroid.

    It's a meteor when it blazes forth in our sky.

    And it's a meteorite when, having hit the ground, it is now a rock, and
    thus a kind of mineral.
