A long time ago I heard of the idea, that sound recording could have

Does anyone know anything about that?
    Was it tried out actually?

Theory - If Energy can not be created or destroyed, When we are in a
    room,
what we hear and what we see, is energy emitting from a source
    transmitted
outward which then enters our ears and eyes to see or hear- Now what
happens to that energy when we are not in the room, it is still being transmitted outward from that object, everything in a straight line from
    that
object would get hit with that energy or wave either light or sound,
    right - is it
not plausible that if the target medium on the receiving end of that
    emission
"adsorbed or recorded" that transmission in some way, clay, plant
    leaves,
soft wood - we would be able measure it or some how "reply" it - Just theorizing?

The British TV Play "The Stone Tape" was based on a similar idea.

The idea was that ghosts are actually recordings of past events in store
which can be made play back under the right conditions. The thought was
that only particularly horrific incidents have enough "energy" to be recorded.

Pretty good and pretty scary movie if I remember right, although it's from the 1970's so may not have aged well.

Sorry, should be "past events in *stone*". That's what happens when you
    work in retail!
