    Hominid evolution isn't so difficult in general lines:
    Early hominoids in Eurasia lived in coastal forests along the Tethys Ocean. After the Mesopotamian Seaway closure c 15 Ma,
    - pongids (E) followed the Ind.Ocean coasts-rivers-lakes,
    e.g. Siva-Gigantopith...
    - hominids (W) followed the Tethys=Med.Sea coasts-rivers-lakes,
    e.g. Oreo-Graeco-Dryopith...
    Hominids colonized the incipient Red Sea:
    Praeanthropus-Gorilla after c 8 Ma colonized the incipient Rift,
    e.g. Pliocene afarensis -> early-Pleist.boisei.
    When the Red Sea opened c 5 Ma,
    - Australopithecus-Pan (W) followed the E.Afr.coasts-rivers-lakes,
    e.g. Pliocene africanus -> early-Pleist.robustus (Gorilla//Pan),
    - Pliocene Homo (E) followed the S-Asian coasts -> H.erectus at Java etc.
