What if we cloned a Neanderthal?
Think about it. If we cloned some Neanderthals
we'd know exactly what they looked like. We'd
know exactly how they developed. We could
determine their nutritional needs.
In short: We could look at their bodies and see
how they worked!
But is that moral?
They would be living, breathing humans. They
would have every human right to NOT be the
subject of medical investigations.
You know, Neanderthals were built like Sherman
tanks. Even the females. People have suggested
that maybe they were pumped up on natural
steroids, which is how they managed their powerful
builds, and that this resulted in our modern concept
of "Roid Rage." If true, Neanderthals could not be
suited for modern society.
They'd be violently sociopathic by our standards...
Neanderthals are known for the great many injuries
they suffered, and left evidence for on their skeletons.
Some have suggested that this was the result of
Neanderthals co existing with other Neanderthals...
So if we could clone Neanderthals we'd learn so
much about them. We could "Just look." But is that
moral? Is that something justifiable? And who would
pay for the consequences of bringing a Neanderthal
into modern society?
Do we simply deny them their humanity? Keep them
as an animal experiment?
