Assuming the popular theory that Domeshields
were an early form of toilet paper is only partially
correct -- or maybe even wrong -- this is how you
test for your Pleistocene housing...
#1. Find such modern housing.
Yes. You look at something built last week and
conclude that's what they were building hundreds
of thousands if not a million years ago. So find
them. Those modern "Domeshield" houses or
grass huts. Whatever. Find them.
#2. Conduct extensive archaeological digs under
and around them.
Thoroughly explore your "Domeshields and their
surroundings. Dig it all up. Sift everything.
#3. Find your paleo housing?
One thing we know for a FACT about humans is
that if one group thinks someplace is a good spot
to live, another group will think so too. And it's
excessively common for archaeologists to discover
older structure beneath even ancient sites!
Assuming you didn't find you paleo housing,
proceed to step four...
#4. At the very least, find out what you're looking
for.
If you dig up primitive housing and it's surroundings,
at the very least you're going to find out what signs
these primitive people leave behind in the soil. So
even if they site was never inhabited in paleo times,
it will tell you exactly what such a site looks like in
a paleo context. So, NOW YOU KNOW WHAT TO
LOOK FOR.
#5. PUT IT ALL TOGETHER!
Where you found your modern "Primitive" housing,
that's the kind of place where your ancestors would
have lived. So, figure out where it would have looked
like that 200,000 or a million years ago, and then go
dig.
You know what you're looking for from your
excavations of a modern "Primitive" habitat site.
You know what they left behind. You know what
changes to the soil you need to be looking for.
So, go ahead; test it.
It wouldn't be particularly expensive. It wouldn't
be particularly difficult. Those San people did
all the hard work -- they built the houses. You just
need to go dig everything up! And plenty of people
worked out paleo climates. The maps exist. They
should be a real help identifying where to look for
sites matching the modern "Primitives," only back
half a million years...
Shut up already. Do it.
