If a gene variant is linked to diabetes, and
it supposedly comes from Neanderthals,
it seems very unlikely that Neanderthals ate
a lot of plants.
All of our foods are either a carb or a protein,
and the simple rule of thumb is:
"If it has a mommy & a daddy it's a protein."
Of course, if it doesn't then it's a carb...
So bananas are a carb, fish are a protein.
Potatoes are a carb, lamb chops are a protein.
Rice is a carb, chicken wings are a protein...
Yeah, yeah, yeah; there are plenty of plants
with protein, and animal food products usually
have at least a little bit of carbs, but this is the
rule. There are exceptions.
Plants = carbs
So if Neanderthals were NOT evolved to eat
plants, it's an easy bet that they didn't eat a lot
of plants.
