You need to inspect the small print near the bottom of the can . . . the milky product is labeled as "Low VOC" which stands for "low volatile organic compounds" and it doesn't do NEARLY as good a job protecting wood as the original clear compound.
If you search around, you might find this in some hardware stores (low turnover), but getting harder and harder to find the right stuff today
