So a few weeks ago I mentioned starting a project for Nailshooter.
One month and 4 days later it is done!
The cabinet major sections dry fit.

The inside of the upper cabinets, there will be 3 adjustable shelves for
each side.

And the shelf details.

Very nice, as usual.
I forget what it's for so I have to ask: Why the lip on the shelves?
I like the look, but wonder if it'll be a nuisance.

Very nice, as usual.Thank you!
I forget what it's for so I have to ask: Why the lip on the shelves? To hide the edge and to make the front and back edges of the shelf stiffer.
Plus, it allowed me to index the piece with no worry of slipping in the clamps and no mechanical fasteners to hold it in place.
I like the look, but wonder if it'll be a nuisance.
It sticks up 1/8", I rounded the inner edge to make dragging objects
over the lip smoother.
This is actually what the customer, Nailshooter, wanted.

When I said "I forget what it's for" I meant the overall piece of furniture, not the
edging itself. If I ever forget what shelf edging is for, especially on plywood, it'll
be time to hang up the tools. ;-)
I was specifically asking about the lip and why it was incorporated into the piece.

The "dragging" is what concerned me, but if that's what the client wants, that's what you give him (within reason).
