An increase in the population of Sea Lions along the Southern
California coast has lead to more aggressive behavior by sharks.
Couple that with an increase in population of sharks due to a
larger food source available in our local waters, and this is
what we get. We need two years of increased shark fishing and
figure out a way to get better control of the increasing and
overpopulated sea lion situation. Prayers to this young lady and
    her family.

It has nothing to do with increase in the population of Sea Lions. The
increase in shark population is due to your government's ban on "shark
    fin soup".

Save a leg. Eat "shark fin soup" today.

One mile? I wasn't aware sharks were such homebodies.

Indeed. Great Whites love that area..and are seen from Mexico to
Atascadero, this time of the year..cruising for seals. Surfers are
just big seals to many sharks.....
