I purchased a Sony CCD-TRV65 to play back old (10-15 years) 8mm and HI-8 video so I can convert them to DVD. The camcorder came with a HI-8 tape inside which shows footage from 2004. The playback is clear, and sound good. I tested the recording function
and again, the clear video and good sound.
I tried playing a half dozen of my old 8mm and HI-8 video and during playback all I could see was a gray static screen (lots of lines) with no video or audio at all. I tried several different locations on each tape with the same result. None of the tapes
I had worked, even though I recorded some of them on an exact cam-corder years ago. All the tapes are the same format it seems, either 8mm or HI-8.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong, or what I am doing wrong? Any and all suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
