The mixIRÂ allows you to stack and blend a practically unlimited number of IRs, which are digital snapshots of real-world acoustic spaces or devices. You can use IRs from Redwirez or any other source, and load them with a simple drag-and-drop interface.
You can also load Redwirez IR Modules, which give you a visual way to choose a speaker, mic, position and distance[^1^].
One of the coolest features of the mixIRÂ is that you can add classic Neve and API EQ to your IR stack with the N-series and A-series modules. These modules emulate the sound of legendary analog consoles and let you shape your tone with precision and
warmth[^1^]. You can also use the Redwirez REQ module, which is a 5-band EQ with high pass and low pass filters[^1^].
Another feature that sets the mixIRÂ apart from other IR loaders is that you can export your IR mix as a WAV or AIFF file for use in another plug-in, ampsim or hardware IR loader. This gives you more flexibility and compatibility with your workflow[^1^].
You can also use the standalone app to mix IRs without a DAW, play guitar tracks in a loop and audition IRs, play live through the app (low-latency on MacOS only), and export your IR mix to an external device[^1^].
The mixIRÂ is compatible with VST, AU and AAX formats, and works on MacOS 10.11.6 or later (64 bit) and Windows 7-SP1, 8.1, 10 (64 bit). It has zero latency for delay-free live performance, and no dongles or authorization schemes[^1^]. You can buy it
for $59.99 from the Redwirez website[^1^], where you can also download a free Marshall 1960 IR module to get started[^2^].
If you are interested in learning more about the mixIRÂ, you can watch a walk-through video on Vimeo[^1^], read the user's manual[^1^], or check out some cabinet IR mixing tips on the Redwirez blog[^1^]. You can also download some other Redwirez
products, such as the BIGbox X: Bass library, which contains over 1000 bass cabinet IRs sampled with 14 mics[^3^], or the Giganator module, which simulates the sound of high gig levels at bedroom listening volume[^1^].
The mixIRÂ is a powerful tool for guitarists and producers who want to create realistic and immersive sounds with IRs. Whether you want to emulate classic amps and cabs, experiment with different mic placements and EQ settings, or add some reverb and
ambience to your tracks, the mixIRÂ can help you achieve your sonic goals.
How to use the mixIRÂ IR Loader
To use the mixIRÂ IR Loader, you need to install it on your computer and load it as a plug-in in your DAW or as a standalone app. You can download the installer from the Redwirez website and follow the instructions to complete the installation. Once you
have installed the mixIRÂ, you can launch it and start mixing IRs.
The mixIRÂ has a simple and intuitive interface that consists of three main sections: the IR Browser, the IR Mixer and the Output Controls. The IR Browser lets you navigate and select IRs from your computer or from Redwirez IR Modules. The IR Mixer lets
you adjust the volume, pan, phase and EQ of each IR in your stack. The Output Controls let you set the master volume, mute, solo and bypass of the mixIRÂ, as well as export your IR mix as a WAV or AIFF file.
To load an IR into the mixIRÂ, you can drag and drop it from your computer or from the IR Browser into one of the 64 slots in the IR Mixer. You can also double-click on an IR in the IR Browser to load it into the next available slot. To load a Redwirez
IR Module, you can drag and drop it from your computer or from the Module Browser into one of the 64 slots in the IR Mixer. You can also double-click on a module in the Module Browser to load it into the next available slot.
Once you have loaded an IR or a module into the mixIRÂ, you can adjust its parameters using the knobs and buttons below each slot. You can also click on the slot to open a pop-up window that shows more details about the IR or module. You can use this
window to change the speaker, mic, position and distance of a module, or to view the frequency response and waveform of an IR.
To blend multiple IRs or modules together, you can use the volume and pan knobs to balance their levels and stereo width. You can also use the phase button to invert the phase of an IR or module if needed. To add EQ to an IR or module, you can drag and
drop an EQ module (such as N-series or A-series) into one of the four EQ slots below each slot. You can then adjust the EQ parameters using the knobs and buttons below each EQ slot.
To add reverb to your IR mix, you can drag and drop a reverb module (such as PCM60) into one of the four reverb slots at the bottom of the mixIRÂ interface. You can then adjust the reverb parameters using the knobs and buttons below each reverb slot.
You can also use the dry/wet knob to control how much reverb is added to your IR mix.
To export your IR mix as a WAV or AIFF file, you can click on the export button at the top right corner of the mixIRÂ interface. You can then choose a file name, location and format for your exported file. You can also choose a sample rate and bit depth
for your exported file. The exported file will contain all the adjustments and effects that you have applied to your IR mix in the mixIRÂ.
