Hi, Ron. Have you ever seen the meme regarding the New Yorker and the idea that the caption under any New Yorker cartoon could be replaced with the words "Christ, what an asshole"? It's troubling when intelligent, reasoning people take a question, a
question that is easily parsed, even though it is worded incorrectly and, instead of doing someone the kindness of responding with the data they desired, takes that opportunity to correct and belittle. If you knew the answer, you could have answered
easily, giving an approximate figure. You could even have corrected them and offered the word "perimeter".
If you didn't know the answer, then you really should just shut up, at the risk of being mistaken for a New Yorker cartoon.

This isn't a very meaningful question, because only a circle has
a "circumference", and the shape of the US doesn't even slightly
approximate a circle.
If you want to know the length of the outer boundary of the USA, you've
still got a problem, because much of that boundary is shoreline, and
how do you measure the length of a shore?
