New York Gov. Kathy Hochul delivered the ceremonial puck-drop at
Tuesday's Rangers game to the tune of a disapproving crowd's boos.

When the announcer introduced Hochul, displaying her picture on the
screen, fans loudly jeered at her.

Hochul smiled and waved to fans in Madison Square Garden despite the
    unfriendly welcome.

Officials chose the female governor to administer the puck-drop in commemoration of Women's Empowerment Night.

This comes a month after Hochul was similarly heckled at a speech at
the Democratic National Convention. Protesters met the two-time
lieutenant governor with signs calling her "evictor-in-chief."

Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin posted the video on Twitter, saying, "NY
Rangers fans are ready to FIRE Kathy Hochul and are ALL IN to Save
Our State! Losing is not an option."

Zeldin is running against Hochul in the gubernatorial election. The
Republican primary will take place in late June.

"On behalf of the millions of kids she fought in court to keep
masked, the 34,000 health care workers she fired, all the victims of
her bail reform … Rangers fans let [Hochul] have it tonight,"
another Republican gubernatorial candidate, Rob Astorino, tweeted.
