Terry Funk blazed a trail for himself in the pro wrestling business that
will never be repeated. The Texas native was a hardcore legend, and his contributions to the world of pro wrestling were profound. Sadly, he has
passed away at the age of 79-years-old.
Terry Funk had a storied career that spanned several decades. Hailing
from a renowned wrestling family, Funk’s journey began in the 1960s and
took him through multiple promotions, including NWA, WCW, and WWE. Known
for his rugged brawling style and his ability to connect with audiences,
Funk held numerous championships throughout his career. His contributions
to the industry include pioneering hardcore wrestling and participating
in some of the most iconic feuds and matches in wrestling history. With a never-say-die attitude and an enduring legacy, Terry Funk remains a
beloved and respected figure among wrestling fans and peers alike.
Mick Foley was the first to break the news of Terry Funk’s passing. He
posted on Facebook to let everyone know that his dear friend has passed
away. He also needs a few days to let it sink in.
"I’m struggling to process this — but Terry Funk is gone. I just talked
to Terry’s daughter, Brandee, who gave me the awful news. He was my
mentor, my idol, and one of my closest friends. He was the greatest
wrestler I ever saw.
If you get the chance, look up a Terry Funk match or a Terry Funk promo,
and give thanks that this incredible man gave so much, for so long, to so
many. There will never be another like him. May God bless Terry, his
friends, family and all who loved him. RIP my dear friend – it was an

News of Terry Funk’s passing hit the entire pro wrestling world in a huge way. Ric Flair posted on X to say that he never met anyone who ever
worked harder in the ring.

Terry Funk’s health got worse in his later years. He was living in an assisted living facility at the time of his passing. Of course, he never
lost his personality, and he was all smiles in every photo we saw of him
until recently.
