Why Wouldn't They Donate?: How John Henry's Life Could Have Been Saved Profile Two: Jason Todd
Jason Todd is a long-time poster to the Usenet newsgroup rec.sport.pro-wrestling, a venue for lively discussion of various
ersatz hobbies such as wrestling and politics. He posted under
a series of handles such as DaveNOSPAM, Jebediah Granger,
and Seth Janklowicz, but primarily uses comic book character
Jason Todd's nym (and derivations thereof) to post to the group.
Jason claims that his real name is Seth Janklowicz, but according
to RSPW Hall of Famer Chad Bryant, there are no public records
of anyone with that name living anywhere in the United States.
Chad also suggested that Jason was a sockpuppet of a poster
known as "flux,' "The Bogus Sting," and "Gary Schuyler," although
this supposition was never reinforced by any evidence and Jason
himself steadfastly denied it. Jason has also been accused of
being a parody of liberals who does not make posts in earnest,
but again, no evidence of that was ever presented.
Jason has never been inducted into the RSPW Hall of Fame,
but is currently the most influential of the few remaining posters
from RSPW's heyday. John Henry was the first inductee to the
RSPW HoF, and would have gladly shared the honor with Jason
if only Jason would have donated.
Yes, that's right. Despite being a wealthy accountant without
the financial obligations of alimony or even children, and in spite
of being an ideological ally, Jason never donated a dime to John
Henry.
John and Jason had several things in common when John
was alive. They were both staunch leftists who believed in
helping their fellow man when that fellow man was down, and
fighting the system by supporting intelligent rational voices
not chained to capitalist oligarchies when opportunities to do
so presented themselves. They both worked very hard to get
where they were in life. They both loved professional wrestling.
Despite all of these similarities, Jason Todd steadfastly
refused to give succor to JH, instead telling him "..." and
"..."
John's impending fate did not seem to stifle Jason's generally-
merry attitude one bit, as Jason continued to make posts
bemoaning the deaths of celebrities at the very moment John
Henry was dying of poverty and starvation brought upon him
through no fault of his own.
In later years, Jason deeply regretted not visiting the link paypal.me/johnhenryus and donating an amount large enough
to help John Henry survive. He could not undo the damage
his cavalier attitude and refusal to donate wrought on the Henry
family or the city of Kalamazoo, which was left forever poorer
by the premature removal of a legend.
