• More On Oz Ball-tampering

From alvey@21:1/5 to All on Mon May 17 08:25:31 2021
Cam Bancroft hinted that more than the three 'official' culprits knew about
the Cape Town ball-tampering in a recent Guardian interview.

"Bancroft, one of the three players hit with lengthy bans for the Cape Town incident along with Steve Smith and David Warner, replied ´the awareness
around that, probably, is self-explanatoryˇ when asked if some of the
    bowlers knew what was occurring."

Shirley Bancroft can only be referring to the frontline Oz bowlers? This
would explain why CA instructed their enquiry to not dig past the surface.
More Poos would have been grilled.

Btw, nice of Saker to throw Lehmann overboard.

Since even Michael Clarke, who you've consistently dissed in the past, has stated that he's sure that there are more than just those 3 who knew - and since he's a NSWman, what happened mightn't have any parochial undertones to it.

Way too much has been made of that bit of 'tampering' in any case because it wasn't even serious enough for the umps to have taken a dekko at the ball at the time.

Flintoff made that point as well, that bowlers would know that the ball's been fiddled with - they wouldn't think they'd suddenly turned into Wasim Akram. Would they say anything? I'm not sure I would.

Unless, of course, the fiddling was ineffective.

    Cheers,

Good point. 'Look, if you're gonna f*ck with the ball, do it properly!'.

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion. However naive it might be.

Disagree again. Those dickheads forever destroyed Oz's "Hard but fair"
mantra. I would have banned them for life. And their children. And their childrens children.

But speaking of NSW bias... I read today that two players have been omitted from the WI T20 tour. Green & Marnus. Guess what they have in common.

And speaking of NSW bias *and* Marnus... Even you must have noticed the
huge NSW push for Smith & Cummins to succeed Paine as captain. Why isn't
    Marnus in consideration?
