Gavaskar named his own son after three of his own idols:
Rohan (Kanhai) Jai(simha)vishwa(nath) Gavaskar. I see that
both CI and Khel.com list Rohan Gavaskar as "RS Gavaskar",
which CI expands to "Rohan Sunil Gavaskar". Perhaps I've
dreamt up the Jaivishwa part. I must be getting senile
in my old age.
No, not yet :) Gavaskar did indeed name his son 'Rohan Jaivishwa',
but it is unusual among Marathi people to use two names. The
tradition is to use your father's first name as your middle name;
thus Rohan is listed as RS Gavaskar, but he has this "second name" Jaivishwa. Personally I think it's a crazy idea to name your son
after someone prominent :) Bedi must nowadays be rather reticent to introduce his son to people :)
Of course, if it is "RJS Gavaskar"..."RJS" are famous initials in Bombay :-).
Really? I can't think of anyone else with those initials... who are
you referring to? :)
