- 1981 was rock-bottom of the tape delay era. CBS aired 4 of the 6 Finals games on tape delay (and 6 of 9 in the conf finals).
- CBS wanted the Pacific teams to advance so they could show live games at 11:30 pm. LA and Port were upset in round 1 and Pho was upset in round 2.
- Just like the previous year, CBS scheduled Finals g3 and g4 without an off day to avoid yet another tape delay game.

-Notes.....1989 was the first year that Hubie Brown served as the #1 analyst.... The doubleheader on 5/23 marks the last time the NBA scheduled two "definite" conference finals games the same night (although NBC scheduled some "if necessary" Game 6
doubleheaders - a few of which actually were necessary in the early 2000s).... Interestingly, 17 years later, all 4 of the CBS announcers who called the 1989 conference finals also worked as announcers on national broadcasts of NBA playoff games in 2006 (
and so did Snapper Jones).
