- CBS went with a lot of regional telecats during these playoffs.
- CBS stopped doing any pre-Finals prime-time games and instead started airing several west coast games at 11:30 pm ET.
- CBS again added Rick Barry as top analyst after the Warriors were eliminated.
- CBS wanted the NBA to start FInals g6 at 10:30 local time on Sunday morning to accomodate a golf telecast (similar to 1976). This time, the NBA refused and CBS agreed to a noon start in Portland. Despite the fact that this was the Finals clinching game,
CBS cut away from the NBA coverage very quickly after the game ended and switched to golf.

- On 4/13, I know CBS did the game in Portland. Not sure if they also did the game in LA.
- CBS aired Finals g2 on tape delay - the start of a dark era in sports TV history. (CBS affiliates in the DC area and the Pacific northwest telecast the game live.)
- CBS aired Finals g4 at 11:30 (live in the east, but on tape delay in much of the west). In general, many markets in the west aired the 11:30 ET playoff games on tape delay at 11:30 PT.
- CBS aired Finals g5 live in prime time (and planned to do the same for g7 if the series had gone the distance).
