Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez have called in a star-studded cast of reinforcements for their bid to purchase the New York Mets.
According to Vaughn McClure of ESPN, the list of investors now involved with A-Rod and JLo include:
Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce
Three-time Pro Bowl running back DeMarco Murray
Ex-NFL offensive lineman Joe Thomas
Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal
Denver Nuggets center Mason Plumlee
The group entered an initial bid of $1.7 billion to buy the MLB franchise, with A-Rod and JLo contributing $300 million. While Steve Cohen's reported bid is $2 billion, the Wilpon family that currently owns the Mets reportedly prefers to sell to A-Rod's group if the bids are close.
