The AFL News for Saturday 27/3/1993.
    ------------------------------------

The footy season has started in earnest with a great game at the MCG last night
between Collingwood and Footscray. Collingwood was victorious by 20 points in a
very tough game. The scores were:

    Collingwood 3.4 9.7 15. 8 17.13 (115)
    Footscray 5.4 7.9 12.13 13.17 (95)

Goals: COLL.: Williams 5, Rocca 5, Russell 2, Fraser 2
    FOOTS.: Del'Re 4, Smith 2, Croft 2

Best: COLL.: Francis, Russell, A. Richardson, Williams
    FOOTS.: Cameron, Kellett, Coleman, Reynolds

Injuries: COLL.: Rowe (quadricep) replaced in selected side by Lehamnn
    Pert (concussion) Shaw (knee)
    FOOTS.: Liberatore (conciussion), Mansfield (leg)

The first quarter started at a fantastic pace with some great tackling and hard
hits. Both Pert of Collingwood and Liberatore of Footscray received concussion
in this quarter. Footscray had the better system and opened a two goal lead at
1/4 time. The second quarter was where Collingwood won the match. They over-ran
the Dogs with a 6 goal to 2 quarter. Williams was playing well on the half- forward line with 4 goals to half time.
The second half saw Collingwood's Francis and Wright take over the center. Footscray's forward line was falling to pieces with Del'Re coming up to the wing
to get kicks. The Pies slowly ground the Dogs down and recorded a good 20 point
    win in front of 59,000.

In selection news, Geelong has lost Ablett even though he was named in the side
on Thursday night. In news of the other teams playing on Sunday I only have the
squads of 23 named on Thursday night. Richmond has included seven new players for their match against Adelaide. The new players are:

    Hi John

Wondered if you could help me sort out differences in data sources.

I was using these data from http://www.statsci.org/data/oz/afl.html as a tutorial example. The first game (first row) is
MCG Other Temp Members Top50 Date Home Away
    1 8.653 72.921 24 12.601 5 1993-03-27 NM Bris

I'm reading this as North Melbourne played Brisbane Lions at the MCG on the 27/3/1993. Above you say Footscray played Collingwood. This particualr game is interesting because of the low spectator numbers.(according to the data from the statsci site.)

Interested in knowing what is what?

    Regards
    Ross
