• FBI paid Twitter $3.5 MILLION to ban accounts

From Tommy@21:1/5 to All on Wed Dec 21 10:32:34 2022
So, not only was the FBI in collusion with Twitter to ban accounts, they were PAYING Twitter to do this! Now we have PROOF POSITIVE that a government agency was actively conspiring to SUPPRESS FREE SPEECH.

    Oh, Sunshine....

I realize what follows will be far too much for you to take in, so
    here's the short of it:

Twitter got reimbursed when it was required by law to aid the FBI in investigations.

It had nothing to do with getting paid to ban accounts, which the FBI
never demanded of Twitter in the first place.

'Look. I want to stop writing about Twitter. I want to write about lots
of other stuff. I have a huge list of other stories that I’m trying to
get through, but then Elon Musk does something dumb again, and people
run wild with it, and (for reasons that perplex me) much of the media
either run with what Musk said, or just ignore it completely. But Musk
is either deliberately lying about stuff or too ignorant to understand
what he’s talking about, and I don’t know which is worse, though neither
    is a good look.

Today, his argument is that “the FBI has been paying Twitter to censor,” and he suggests this is a big scandal.

This would be a big scandal if true. But, it’s not. It’s just flat out wrong.'

    'But the payments!
So, there’s no evidence of censorship. But what about these payments?
Well, that’s Musk’s hand-chosen reporters, Musk himself, and his fans totally misunderstanding some very basic stuff that any serious reporter
with knowledge of the law would not mess up.

But this is a misreading/misunderstanding of how things work. This had
nothing to do with any “influence campaign.” The law already says that
if the FBI is legally requesting information for an investigation under
a number of different legal authorities, the companies receiving those
requests can be reimbursed for fulfilling them.'

Your "investigations" were all about suppressing FREE SPEECH as guaranteed by the Constitution! In other words, the FBI engaged in ILLEGAL ACTIVITY, and spent TAX PAYER'S money in the process. Both are ILLEGAL under the law, and calling them an "
investigation" doesn't change that. In less than TWO WEEKS you will START to get an education about ALL of this!
