• 2023 acquisitions

From Irving S@21:1/5 to All on Fri Nov 4 13:01:03 2022
I love my PXG irons and woods. Really could not think of replacing them in 2023.

Considering 2 acquisitions for the new year. Not really that I need them, they are just intriguing.

The first is a driving iron. I demoed on at my club, I just love the sound and trajectory. Just seems like a fund club to hit. Titlelists and Taylor Made have good offerings here, I bet there will be some deals to be had as the 2022 clubs need to
    clear the shelves.

The second is a mini driver. I hit both my driver and 3 wood off the tee, and for some reason, a well hit 3 wood seems more satisfying than a well hit driver. My 3 wood has a low boring trajectory, just a pleasure to watch. I bet a mini driver would
be a blast to hit. Came across this new offering by Taylor Made. Gotta try it first, but good chance it will make the bag for next year.

    https://www.taylormadegolf.com/300-Mini-Blackout-Driver/DW-TA001-MD.html?lang=en_US

It is fun to change the makeup of my bag, based on different courses. Can't wait to try that new TM mini driver, will report back!

Anyone else here making any changes to their bag in 2023?

I am looking to replace my Cobra irons. The PXG irons look intriguing, but I would have to go to Seattle or Portland to get fit.

Oh, so an “acquisition” cannot be to acquire services (eg training)?
Gosh, ‘Professor Himalaya’ will be so disappointed in you.

Depends: is your objective to lower your golf score, or to be like a raven

If you really want to spend your money wisely, commit to practice.

    At least twice a week.

At least once every three or 4 times on grass.

And don't forget short game practice.

Hysterical. We got an unemployed dog walker here than could not afford toilet paper to wipe his rancid ass, let alone golf clubs. When was the last time you collected a paycheck of consequence. You could not afford guest fees at my club or Tom's
club. In fact, you would not be welcome as a guest. When we bring guests ,it reflects on us. The sight of you would be an incredible embarrassment.

You imbecile, the only balls you play with these days are your own. You could not even afford a box of used golf balls, let alone clubs. You could not even afford a shoe shine in our mens locker room. LOL! What a loser. You seem so angry little

When I started the game, lo those many moons ago, my mother gave me a
set of irons for Christmas (I think she thought they were really cool
because they were "Palmer" clubs). At the time, I'd been playing with a
starter set to which I'd added a couple of the even number clubs from
different manufacturers; trying to figure out what worked for me.

I played those Palmers for the next... ...I don't know, probably 10
years, during which time I tried and failed to find an instructor from
whom I could effectively learn, I determined to teach myself the golf swing.

I made a promise that I would buy myself new irons—better irons—when I could finally play at about 80-82 on a consistent basis.

And by the account of better golfers I know (some of whom used to post
here and really had game), I succeeded in my goal.

I got down to a 9.3 index and shot a personal best of 73 (admittedly on
an easyish par 71 course that honestly should have been a par 70). The
best compliment I received was that I swung like Ernie Els (and that was
from a regular poster here who was about a 4 handicap, IIRC).

    That's when I bought my AP2s.

And if my game is suffering at the moment from benign neglect, I'm not
going to go out and buy different clubs to try to fix it.

    I'm going to practice more.

Considering 2 acquisitions for the new year. Not really that I
need them, they are just intriguing.

The first is a driving iron. I demoed on at my club, I just love
the sound and trajectory. Just seems like a fund club to hit.
Titlelists and Taylor Made have good offerings here, I bet there
will be some deals to be had as the 2022 clubs need to clear the
    shelves.

The second is a mini driver. I hit both my driver and 3 wood off
the tee, and for some reason, a well hit 3 wood seems more
satisfying than a well hit driver. My 3 wood has a low boring
trajectory, just a pleasure to watch. I bet a mini driver would be >>>>> a blast to hit. Came across this new offering by Taylor Made.

It is fun to change the makeup of my bag, based on different courses. >>>>> Can't wait to try that new TM mini driver, will report back!

Anyone else here making any changes to their bag in 2023?

I am looking to replace my Cobra irons. The PXG irons look
intriguing, but I would have to go to Seattle or Portland to get
    fit.
Try practicing more and taking some lessons.

The same money spent there will do you far more good.

    LOL!

The thread was about new equipment, not about playing better.

Oh, so an “acquisition” cannot be to acquire services (eg training)? Gosh, ‘Professor Himalaya’ will be so disappointed in you.

Sometimes, we just want to buy new stuff. What is wrong with that?

Depends: is your objective to lower your golf score, or to be like a raven and collect a new shiny thing? Americans are notoriously gullible &
lazy, wanting immediate gratification, so they buy the latest gimmick widget instead of being willing to put in the time to improve their skills.
When I started the game, lo those many moons ago, my mother gave me a
set of irons for Christmas (I think she thought they were really cool because they were "Palmer" clubs). At the time, I'd been playing with a starter set to which I'd added a couple of the even number clubs from different manufacturers; trying to figure out what worked for me.

The
best compliment I received was that I swung like Ernie Els (and that was from a regular poster here who was about a 4 handicap, IIRC).

    That's when I bought my AP2s.

And if my game is suffering at the moment from benign neglect, I'm not
going to go out and buy different clubs to try to fix it.

    I'm going to practice more.

Hilarious post. 100% troll, 100% bullshit. Talk about being transparent.

First off, I want to deeply apologize for not replying rapidly. You are the champ here. I have MUCH more important things to do then sit by my laptop and salivating the minute a post arrives on some social media. But hey old man, whatever floats
    your boat.

Now on to this silly post. Tom mentioned new clubs, I mentioned maybe a few new clubs, I sure am not doing it to buy a game. I cannot speak for Tom, but I am sure he also knows that you cannot buy a game. Clubs can help, but nothing helps more than
lessons and practice. And playing, you gotta get out there and play.

Sometimes you doofus, people just buy things because they want to. I just got a new putter last week. Nothing wrong with the old one, I just saw a putter I liked and bought it. So what. My wife has been playing with the same Cally irons for years, she
wants a new set. She just wants a new set, for no other reason than that. Just like we buy new furniture, new clothes, new Iphones, we just buy things because we can. And you doofus, you surely know that, I am sure you do this yourself, we all do.

This post reinforces the doofus you are. It was not sincere, there was a message behind your message. Your asshole libtard buddies here might be stupid, but a few of us are not. Now go in the corner and cry. Feel sorry for yourself. Wish I was
    there to wipe the tears.
