  • OT: Circumstances beyond my control

    I just thought I'd give a preemptive update for those who follow my
    racing so very keenly.

    As much as I would like to be racing this coming weekend, there are
    things that should always take precedence.

    This Friday is the one year anniversary of my brother's death from
    cancer, so I'll be spending the weekend with my sister-in-law and niece.

    he was gone.

    Alan, I am truly sorry for your loss. I have lost two brothers to cancer, and know the pain that comes with it. I just attended the funeral of a golfing buddy taken by cancer, and we have another one that succumbed to pancreatic cancer a week after
    diagnosis.

    My brother was (seemingly) healthy at the beginning of April...

    ...and on June 10, he was gone.

    Leaving behind a wife and young daughter...

    Immediately after it was over, my other brother insisted that we all get
    whole body MRI scans.
