Not the first band I'd pick up references to! If you'd mentioned a

Damn! There goes my best ever chance of winning the tipsters' cape.

To summarise my opinions of recent events:

    * The Non-Scottish Lions were very lucky not to lose 3-0.

    * If Gatland hadn't sabotaged Fiji v Scotland, Scotland would be
    fourth in the World Rankings

    * The Pro 14 is going to be a disaster.

    * There is something innately creepy about watching women's rugby.

    * Scotland will probably beat NZ in November.

Hello John Williams. One of the few names I recognize from the good, bad & volatile years of RSRU. (2000-2008). Not exactly a hive of activity now though. As I recall you were part of this NG prior to 2000. How have you been and what's been happening in
here over the last 9-10 years?

    cheers

Hi Kees, I hope you are well! Yes, I was first here around 1995 when
it was r.s.r. and the flames were between league and union people more
    than anything.

The group has gradually slowed down until it got to the stage you see
now. I just check now and again, but there hasn't been much of a
discussion for a year or so I guess. Barely anything regarding the
Lions tour for instance. Rumour has it a few have migrated to a
Facebook account, but I am a non-facebooker. Apparently all you need
to do is search RSRU and you'll get an invite unless you are
    particularly pesky.

I must confess I am finding trends in rugby a bit disheartening with
player welfare at the top level really at risk. At least concussion is
being taken much more seriously now, but teams still clearly flaunt
player safety if a key result depends on it in my view.

Another disappointment is the lack of competition to NZ in
international rugby! Another European Cup begins this weekend and
hopefully will show the club game over here is healthy.

Life in general progresses pretty well - it is fun seeing children not
born when I started posting here now adults. My daughter was working
in a bar last night moaning at how boring the soccer (Wales v Ireland)
was, and how the players are complete wosses diving in agony at a
    touch.

    Keep safe and have fun!
