    Didn't go well for Biden...

    https://x.com/EndWokeness/status/1806557731244986521

    Ouch!

Biden really showed that he's at halfway house to dementia. No ifs and
buts about it. Meanwhile Trump reminded people that he's an asshole with massive character flaws. Both are unfit for presidency, for different
reasons. Will Democrats be able to admit this and do something about it?

Ugly farce, the debate was, two old guys airing their old grievances.
This can not be elections for leader of the free world. Maybe US is not
that any more, if it ever was.

Trump did hammer home the immigration angle imo effectively but missed opportunities on drug problem in Biden's America etc. On other hand how
can you be so dumb that when you're asked if you will respect the
election results you don't answer with simple "yes" with no ifs and
buts... it's just not possible for him to admit being wrong, ever.

Biden was helped by Roe/Wade questions but turned *himself* the topic to immigrant crimes (facepalm). Was also half of the time unintelligible,
losing train of thought etc. Not good.

Trump was talking so much nonsense, but Biden wasn't far behind.
    Questions were left unanswered.

    Because it's a trick question. It's loaded.

I'm definitely for replacing Biden, he'll just lose to Trump. And I also
tend to think that people shouldn't pick potted plants for presidents.

Who would be a good replacement / no-no... Newsome? Obamas? Kennedy?
    Whitmer? Kamala?

Newsome is someking of woke maniac / pretender? Was it him who talked
about reparations for blacks in California?

Obamas - either one would be good I think

    Kennedy - OK

Whitmer - No idea who she is

    Kamala - Hell no.

    Hillary - won't happen.

Bernie - what is he, like 90 now?

Buttigieg - a bridge too far?

For you all is well as long as Jewish tyranny in the US and global bloodshed are preserved?

Utterly pathetic, unworthy to be called a human being.

Logically it's pointless and meaningless and harmful. You've got to vote.

The only legit reason is if you believe voting is a kind of consent to the system and system being evil, you object to consenting and signing anything with satan?

I don't think he has national appeal, but who knows?

I think he might... he *looks* the part at least, imo a bit like a movie
star looks. May be too slick...

Obamas - either one would be good I think
Barrack cannot run again, by law. It's two terms, max, not simply limited
    to two i n a row.

    Ah, ok.
So that leaves us with Michelle. But she won't run I guess.

    Kennedy - OK
The term "loose cannon" does not come close to fully describing him.

Whitmer - No idea who she is
The pretty michigan governor. That's all I know at this point.

Yeah, not bad looking. That's all I know too.

Once a ho, always a ho...

    Hillary - won't happen.
    No chance.

Bernie - what is he, like 90 now?
    No chance.

Buttigieg - a bridge too far?

First openly gay head of state in modern times?

I think there was one in some country... maybe it was a prime minister
NOT elected by people to his position. In Lithuania or something like that.

How about Janet Yellen? US treasury sec?

She's terrible enough in current position...

These guys calling for Biden to step down are idiots.  They're probably
the same ones who were 1) predicting a resounding Biden victory 2) Trump wouldn't show or 3) Trump is a bad "debater".  I was amazed at how
confident liberal media was beforehand... for some reason they always underestimate Trump's skill at this form of "debating" (which isn't
    debating, not really).

    I don't think they're idiots at all.

Unless they thought that Biden is 100% and would ace the debate, only
now waking to reality of his condition.

It's been pretty obvious quite some time to me. And he's not getting
better but further declining. What may have fooled some were his
performances reading a prompter which he has still been able to do
somewhat ok. Also they've been covering up for him, telling people how
    sharp he still is.

And whoever prepped Biden on this debate was an idiot and should be
    fired.

Yes, someone thought that he's still cognitively normal. Maybe they're
    buying their own propaganda.

Trump seemed like he had almost no preparation at all. His performance
was terrible as well. The only positive thing I can say that at least he

cause one to think even more, and wonder.

First, was the debate necessary to Biden's re-election? Unless his
backers were fearful that he'd lose to a convicted felon, it seems to be
to Biden's disadvantage--although to *not* agree to the debates could be
spun up as a negative by Trump. But, again, he's a convicted felon, so...

Next, it's doubtful to me that anyone working closely day-to-day with
Biden would not be aware of his rapidly advancing dementia. And yet his
camp *agreed* to two debates. It implies that everyone around him knew
what the likely outcome might be.

Then, the timing of the debate. It seemed to me to be inordinately
    early. Why so early?

So if you put this together for a speculative scenario, you had the
Biden side agreeing to debate against an opponent who we're not even
certain can run for office, or hold it, if elected, exposing a semi-functional senior publicly in a very, very risky venue, and
agreeing to a very early date for this extremely risky debate.

One might suppose that Biden, the person, the life-long loyal party man,
was sacrificed by his handlers simply to provide a plausible popular
excuse to replace him on the ticket; they already knew he could not last
thru the campaign, let alone the next four years. And they did it early enough in the process to have most of the disruptive public fall-out
    settle before November.

Let's get this done as soon as possible.

It also neatly sidesteps retaining Kamala Harris in a position of being
one heartbeat from the presidency. Assuming that  they are politically astute enough to see that Harris cannot likely win as the pres
candidate, the handlers of the Demo political apparatus can either allow
the replacement candidate to choose his/her own running mate, or shove
Harris farther away from the likelihood of assuming the office from the
vice presidency because a new candidate will ostensibly not have one
foot in the grave and the other in a rest home, as Biden clearly does.

Sounds a bit of a conspiracy theory... but yes, I think very much
    plausible scenario.

The other option is that Joe's inner circle is very small and others
bought the 'he's sharp as ever' story...

But yes, it may be easier to let things roll on their own weight (aka be possibly exposed at debate) than to do anything about it.

    Last ironic observation...

We're a bit cynical and worldly here on RST, or would like to picture ourselves in that light. So we've all maintained that for each chief executive or national leader in the western democracies there's a covert leadership cadre that actually makes the policy decisions. And that this
may be true to greater or lesser extent depending on the specific leader.

But has it ever been more apparent that a democratic nation is being
run, day-to-day, by someone other that the folks you voted into office?
It's very, very scary when you think about it. The nation is in fact and beyond all doubt being run by people with no public accountability. You
can not even *name* them with certainty, let alone hold them to account.

Yes. I just made another topic about it, before reading your post. Great minds...

But I really just wanted to post the first clip on that thread/post.

Biden was helped by Roe/Wade questions but turned *himself* the

    JD?

These guys calling for Biden to step down are idiots.  They're
probably the same ones who were 1) predicting a resounding Biden
victory 2) Trump wouldn't show or 3) Trump is a bad "debater". I was
amazed at how confident liberal media was beforehand... for some
reason they always underestimate Trump's skill at this form of
"debating" (which isn't debating, not really).

Also they've been covering up for him, telling people
    how sharp he still is.

And whoever prepped Biden on this debate was an idiot and should be
    fired.

Yes, someone thought that he's still cognitively normal. Maybe
    they're buying their own propaganda.

Trump seemed like he had almost no preparation at all. His
performance was terrible as well. The only positive thing I can say
that at least he didn't come off as a potted plant.

It was my understanding that Biden's team proposed it, not simply agreed
to it.  I suspect he's not normally as bad as he was on debate night.
He was giving a speech with a more powerful, less halting voice on
Friday and he certainly looked more lively.  I guess gramps needs an
    early bedtime.

It's about difference between reading a prompter vs not reading a
prompter. As I've said earlier, he still seems to be able to read
convincingly from a prompter... years and years of experience. That'll
probably be the last noticeable "function" he loses.

And no, his popularity didn't increase because of the debate. :)

really should go out and vote Trump cos he made the big mistake of not voting for him in 2020. If he and others like him hadn't been tricked by the evil bigtech & MSM (yes, a bunch of life-long always Democrat voting journalsts shouted about how Trump
was terrible on a daily basis, funny enough), then you would have Trump saying "see you later" this year and you might have some decent Democrat or Repub candidate instead.

Yeah my point still stands if he's willing to debate it, but OTOH I do admit I forgot about electoral system, I know if he's going to vote e.g. Trump in his state it's pretty much pointless so it's kind of an exception to the rule I mentioned.

I'm not speaking to gracchus or jd here, specifically, but to pass along an interesting observation about stuff here in the US, so that you folks can get a better picture of what it's like here. This is Oregon, the most Demo of the west coast states, in
my judgement. In 2022, there was an election for governor, among other offices. For the first time in maybe 20 years a Republican ("red") candidate, a woman from eastern OR, which is like cowboy country, conservative and traditionalist, actually had a
chance of winning. This due to the perceived problems of crime, homelessness and drugs. The Demo ("blue") candidate put on a last-ditch effort of TV ads in which she wheedled:"Oregon doesn't have to go red to fix the problems."Think about what that means:
you, as a publicly self-proclaimed progressive, do not have to face the embarrassing fact that you voted *RED* to get things fixed--that your "blue" belief system does not work. You won't have to be associated with a state that now appears "red" on the
governorship map. You can continue to live in a "blue" state. She won, too.> At least though Gracchus didn't vote for Hillary and just abstained, > jdeluise is just very bitter about Trump's success, being very rich > and what he sees as boasting. They

I am beginning to think that severely limiting the voting franchise in the US would solve a lot, but this is completely politically unacceptable. The current tendency is exactly the opposite. So next best is a prolonged national trauma of some sort that
does not kill everyone. It would force a reset of popular values, I think. "Thumbs up" would no longer be the ultimate goal.Seriously.BTW, I forgot. My niece visited Dalmatia a couple of weeks ago. She says that it's the best place she has been in
    Europe so far.

I haven't been everywhere in Europe so can't confirm what she says, but I would agree.

It breaks my heart to think about history and how much we suffered, Arabs, Turks, Venetians, etc and how poor and starved our ancestors were in this beautiful land. Which was very poor since you don't have enough arable land and you've had to have
perfect conditions all the time to prosper. Good seasons, perfect weather, peace etc.

Often it was not the case.

Nowadays you could have all that. Peace, modern agriculture, sailing, ship building and of course tourism.

Now that we have it, our people I'm afraid haven't won this ultimate battle?

Thousands and perhaps millions died in diseases, were captured as slaves in earlier eras, or simply left in modern era (like your folks).

My own place has like at most 50% of people who can track their lineage 400+ years here. You have more of "us" in Australia, America etc than here.

I'm among those true natives, but lots of people from all over the Balkans, came here in recent decades. So it's still 100% our genetic pool but you see lots of different surnames in schools for example and it's unsettling imo.

We had like dominant 20 surnames or clans that dominated our town and region. Other Yugoslavs in the last 50 years have kinda overtaken us here on our turf.

But in bigger cities it's even worse.
During the last 4 years or so, we're being flooded by true aliens.

As COVID hoax was ending, the great replacement began.

Our government is cunning central European style of racially aware pricks. Maybe it's LBJ style or maybe not.

But it's the types who you know they know all is bullshit.

They work within this western Jewish system, they're flooding our country with aliens to please the Jews and acquire lucrative positions in Bruxelles EU bureaucracy for themselves after their terms end here, but I guess they assume they've tricked the
Jews since we're importing populations from countries such as Nepal or Philippines, which is very short and physically docile. So those kind of aliens are incapable of endangering us or competing with us for our females. So they won't create extreme
    social tensions.

At least we won't have Moslem or African dystopia, but it's still a loss imo.

And one more thing. You know that expression "if you're young and conservative you have no heart, if you're old and not conservative you have no brains"?

I could paraphrase that to say something about Dalmatia?

Establishing socialism in 1945 might have been controversial (even a crime), but ending it in 1990 the way it was ended, it was definitely a crime to our people.

You see communist took all the private land they needed for schools, ports, hospitals, hotels, roads, etc.

People wanted that at the time, really. They were fed up with historical poverty and selfishness of the ruling nobles. They wanted the society to move forward. Besides, peasants all had enough land, serfdom was abolished long time ago. People didn't even
value their land that much. It is difficult to work on it.

Whole society benefited from that. We all got hospitals, schools, shipyards, factories, progress.

But one point about hotels or property near the sea. E.g. our people got employed in those hotels (or factories of shipyards).

You have families that lost agricultural land next to sea, socialist hotels or factories were built there, and their family members all got employed.

But that was land literally worth millions, tens of millions of euros or dollars.

And all they got was couple of employments for their family members. But it was assumed, they'd have that in perpetuity their offsprings as well and so on. The work places in our socialist community are there for us.

But socialism ended, hotels were nationalized (*) by thd govern and then sold, it's all private ownership now and owners are bringing cheap labour force who not only aren't our local people with known surnames, they aren't even our citizens??

    It's just bizarre.

Under law, at most, only EU citizens should be eligible to work here. But you have all sorts of Asians (luckily short and weak ones) flooding us.

    But you get the irony?

It's not a particular system that hurt the people, even the old system offered something.

This one would have offered too, even more, but had it been the entire time.

    So it's the timing too.

(*) The theft in our society in 1990 consisted of the fact that most of the property wasn't "state/government" property.

It belonged to the "society" (we were socialist country).

The theft happened when the "democratic" government of the 1990 nationalized (stole) all the society's (social) property and turned it into state property.

And then they've sold it, corruption style.

    Which was wrong.

The transition to capitalism should have happened in a way that the social (society's) property is converted into shares and distributed among entire population who can then sell it if they want to or keep their share.

Just random thoughts in erroneous English, I wrote too fast.

First 4 months of 2024, 73k aliens arrived, mostly Nepal and Bosnia-Herzegovina. But it's mostly Nepal, they put B-H here to calm people.

(All Croats from Bosnia-Herzegovina have Croatian papers/passports, e.g. Cilic, Dodig etc) so these kind of stats that mention "Bosnians" mean we talk about non-Croat B-H citizens, meaning either Yugo-moslems or Serbs.

Ok. At least not from Middle-East / Africa...
But kooks like a pretty fast demographic change in effect.

No one is named Sven here (outside of theater folks and their kids)
and literally no one has Carlin surname written in English with C.

    Too bizarre.
    Yet he claims he's local.

    https://svencarlin.com/about-me

It could be a stage name?

Given today's realities, only a fool would not choose a level of anonymity.

The older I get,the *less* I rely on experts; therefore the person's
identity is of less importance than the content. This is not to say that
one shouldn't consider possible tendencies and biases, but in point of
fact, the content has to withstand all rigorous testing.

I think one shouldn't rely on *any* of the Youtube etc investing "experts".

The common advice is to put all money in stocks etc. May work fine for millionaires but what are you gonna do when the stock market crashes and
you need the money. You're gonna panic and sell cheap, as most retail
investors do. Heck, even medium term bonds went down 20% with recent
    rate hikes...

So I think putting all your money on stock market is super risky.

Also the wisdom is to buy when the markets are down. More easily said
than done... for example China is currently cheap but almost none wanted
to buy it at the bottom (I did buy some)...

The problem with cheap stocks is that they lack momentum and one may
have to wait for a looong time for them to go back up... if they ever
do. Well, I expect that at least an index fund eventually will.

    But I wouldn't buy S&P500 right now, it's in a bubble, many believe -
    including I...
I do have a bit of some US minimum volatility index fund. Went and sold
SP500 fund a few hundred points ago. :)
SP500 could still go up for who knows how long. It will drop big at some
point I think but when nobody knows...

The more you play with your portfolio the worse it does, seems to be the wisdom. Just hold and do nothing.

Should have bought gold too, was thinking about it some time back but...

Fuck what Warren Buffet has to say about taxes. :^)

He thinks they will go up because of the US debt? Maybe.

Sven Carlin is quite a Buffett fanboy. However I wonder if Munger was
the brains in Berkshire... quite a character.

Only 3%? then how come they do all the crimes...
And what does it do to youth crime numbers when large part of the
foreign background teens are white European/East Asian who do little
crime. Means probably that around 50% of Middle-East /Africa background
teens are suspected of violence/robberies during their teens.

But I would suspect the real figure is not 3%, at least judging from

Ever thought about not voting for national office if no candidates cross
