If Alcaraz didn't come along these would look more impressive : )

There's never been a player like Alcaraz, I just wonder about his
longevity, how long can he keep up this insane physical level?

The guy in this video is a huge Novak fan and he can't believe Carlos
can play this way (ffw to 6 minute mark). He talks about Carlos
outrunning a ball that his behind him, he somehow chaes it down like the
flash, and gets in front of it to play the ball back. We see this from
players chasing lobs down, but not from penetrating rallies. I doubt
he'll be able to play with this level of explosiveness for more than
another year or 2 so hope to see more of it.

yeah did you see the one where he missed the overhead against Medvedev's
lob, but outran it backwards and then next shot hit a curve(banana) down
the line winner. Had to rewind to understand how on earth he managed it,
but wasn't just the physicality, it was the calmness he hit the down the
line too, it was like he had lots of time to hit it! he's 20 so prob got
3 years or so being able to do this, he might even get quicker til then,
    you see this with footballers.

Apparently men are fastest at age 24-25, Carlos is 21 in May. Hopefully
4 more years of this level?

Of course you don't need to be this insanely fast to win slams, but it's
other worldly and fun to watch. You feel like if he's playing his best
and feeling good he's unbeatable. There would be many athletes out there
who can match or surpass Carlos, but they aren't playing tennis
    unfortunately.

Agree, Alcaraz is so explosive and light footed it's impressive. Out of this world.

However as you say, these won't last. And I'm not talking about his longevity, this is not what Nadal sceptics also claimed ie that he won't last yet he did. Alcaraz too may be successful well into his late 30s, but his explosiveness simply can't last.

You lose that as you age. Some players are simply breathtaking in their first appearance, and visibly slower in later age, I think Becker was the guy.

However Alcaraz imo has the best ever forehand drop shot.

No one's shot is that perfect.

Alcaraz forehand drop shot and perhaps Sampras' serve as #2?

Of course, serve is more important. But in terms of sheer excellence...?
